How often do we reevaluate our thoughts and beliefs? Have your beliefs changed over time? How come?
Recently God has given me a really awesome pen pal from our youth group. He loves to write back and forth. This morning I wanted to challenge him with a few questions about what He believes, and same goes for you today. I want to give you a few questions to ponder on, and really evaluate what you believe. Maybe the correct answers pop out, but even still are they really what you are believing throughout your day?
If you would like to be apart of ongoing emails with me I would love to be apart of your life. You can email me your answers and what you truly think, and I will do my best to help you by pointing out scriptures to you and pray for you. You can email me at danweaver.pa@gmail.com anytime.
If you aren't really interested in emails you could also comment anonymously at the bottom, I am interested to read your thoughts and pray for you.
Here's the email.
So this morning I was wondering if you would like to be challenged by a few questions about God and let me know what your thoughts on them are, if not thats ok too.
And be as honest as possible. Expound on your answer too if you could. Also, you may have another answer than the choices I gave, feel free to answer what it is you truly think. I just want to get to know you better and help you see Jesus as He really is.
1. What do you think God thinks about you?
a) God thinks that I'm causing a lot of problems in my family and friends' lives.
b) God truly loves me and made me as I am and put me in every situation I'm in for a reason
c) God thinks about me only occasionally, and when He does He thinks I need to get my life together.
d) It depends on the day, some days I think He loves me and others I think He's frustrated with me.
2. What do you think about life?
a) Life is a gift that God has given me everyday.
b) Life is a struggle through every situation I find myself in.
c) Life is a what I make it, so it really depends on what I determine myself to do in life.
d) Life is full of ups and downs and I can never get it together.
3. Which describes your thoughts about Jesus?
a) The story of Jesus is a great story that I need to study a lot more to fully understand and then find that I believe it or not. It didn't really happen exactly as it is written in the Bible. (People changed the story a little over time.)
b) Jesus really lived and walked on the very earth I live on, He was God's Son, He has always been (even before creation) and He came to earth to be a human under obedience to His Father and came to share a message of love, hope and freedom to the whole world that only through Him we are saved if we trust in Him, live for Him and believe that when He died He fully forgave us for all we have ever done.
c) Jesus came, died, rose from the dead, but I don't think he really died for me, I just say He did to make myself feel good through my day.
d) Jesus is a story that over time people have convinced others to believe in, and is a huge conspiracy.
4. Why did Jesus say that He must leave in order for another to come and counsel us? John 14:15, 16:7
a) He wants you to stare at the sky for the rest of your life, looking for someone to come down.
b) He wanted to give to you a the gift of His Spirit to counsel you though all areas of life.
c) God likes to play practical jokes and make us question everything we do.
d) I don't know
5. Who is the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost, Counselor) to you?
a) He is someone I haven't yet grasped enough to say I have living inside of me.
b) He is a metaphor Jesus Spoke of for those around His day and age, but times changed. It's not for us today.
c) He is the Spirit of the one true God, who lives inside of those who trust in Him. He helps me in every situation, He guides me through uncertain times, He encourages me when I am confused or frustrated, He is the Spirit of the One true God and He lives inside me.
d) The Holy Spirit lives in pastors and godly friends and speaks to us only through those who He chooses.
6. Can the Holy Spirit talk to you?
a) I think that the Holy Spirit speaks to me all the time, He helps me and helps me feel loved, at peace, joyful, encouraged...
b) I think the "Holy Spirit" doesn't apply to today, because I've never heard Him in my life.
c) The "Holy Spirit" isn't anything other than a metaphor of how we should listen to our conscience more.
d) Yes, but I haven't prayed enough to believe He can talk to me.
7. Do you think you will go to heaven when you die?
a) I hope so, it depends on how good of a life I live by the time I die.
b) If God judges my life as good, yes, if He judges me and sees more bad than good then no.
c) I believe Jesus died for me and there is no doubt I will go to Heaven.
d) I would like to think that I will, but there is no sure way to know.
With each answer you can just put for example: 1b, 2a and then write why. Be sure to be honest! Think critically about what you truly believe and think. And if it takes more time than needed you can answer each question 1 per week or day. Hope these questions help you examine how you think about Jesus. He Loves You. Hope you have a great week! You can also ask your friends or family with what they believe.
